A GREAT LITTLE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Engelberg – Interlaken: 1 Angel, 5 Mountainlakes and Myriads of Stars | 3 Tage

save bookmark

In Engelberg, the cool glacier wind welcomes you as if it were the voice of angels. The snow- and ice-capped Titlis stands as a landmark high above the monastery village. Under its spell, you paddle across Lake Trüebsee, hike on the Via Alpina route to Tannalp and marvel at the incredible starry sky from your sleeping bag at night - the ultimate nightlife! Then the trail leads along the Sbrinz route, on which the hard cheese was exported to Italy from the Middle Ages onwards, into the Aare valley and the e-bike pulls you comfortably along the last stretch of the Lake Brienz to Interlaken.

On this trekking the luggage is transported from the meeting point to the hotel in Meiringen and Interlaken.

Outdoor Highlights

  • Glide in a kayak over the glassy surface of the turbid lake
  • Treat yourself to a refreshing swim in the shimmering turquoise waters along the Four Lakes Hike, one of the most beautiful panoramic routes in the Swiss Alps.

Tag 1 The four-lake hike starts from the Jochpass and your gaze wanders back to the deep blue Trübsee, where you have just paddled across the water in a kayak. Then you reach the idyllically embedded Engstlensee and far behind you already discover the Tannen- and Melchsee. The panoramic trail offers an imposing view and leads over alpine pastures to Tannalp. In the alpine cheese dairy, cheese specialties such as Sbrinz are produced daily according to traditional methods. Enjoy a fine aperitif and an Älpler-z'Nacht before you roll out your sleeping mat on the alpine meadow and slip into your sleeping bag. The view of the night sky is unique. And once you start counting the myriads of stars, you will slowly drift off to sleep. A toilet and in case of need a shared room are available near the night camp. (Walking time without rests: 2 h, distance: 6.5 km, ascent/descent: 220/450 meters)

Tag 2 Today the sun wakes you up and paints the surroundings in a glowing orange dress, what an amazing ambience! After breakfast, the trail leads you to Engstlenalp and Engstlensee. A swim or even just putting your feet in the water will refresh you. You hike through the lonely Gental on the Via Sbrinz and visit the impressive Aare Gorge in the afternoon. It was formed by glaciers over thousands of years. In the evening you reach Meiringen and the hotel. (Walking time without rests: approx. 2 h, distance: 8 km, ascent/descent: 90/600 meters)

Tag 3 The e-bike is already waiting in front of the hotel. Get in the saddle and off you go. The Reichenbach Falls are the first stop. The nostalgic rack railway takes you up to the thundering waterfall. The same fate as the water that falls over rocks into the valley befell Sherlock Holmes, who supposedly lost his life in a fictitious fight at this very spot. The journey continues more quietly, along the shores of Lake Brienz, on a road with little traffic right next to the water. And if the water of the mountain lakes of the last few days was too cold for you, you could now dive into Lake Brienz and enjoy the magnificent panorama from the water. Finally, you arrive in touristy Interlaken, where this "great little outdoor adventure" comes to an end. (Cycle time without rests: 3 h, distance: 30 km, ascent/descent: 450/475 meters)
