Day 1 Welcome in the Jura. Nestled in the idyllic river landscape of the Doubs, the medieval town of Saint-Ursanne holds many treasures. Discover them on a short city tour! Then enjoy a fine dinner and fall asleep with much excitement in the days to come.
Day 2 Today it is time to saddle the bike. After a few training turns you will feel comfortable and start the todays ride. On the nr. 7 Jura Route you leave Staint-Ursanne and the Doubs River and cycle gently into the Franches Montagnes, a high plateau of 1000 m of altitude, characterised by open pastures and pine forests and the typical and only Swiss horse race Franches-Montagnes horses. But you keep sitting in the bike saddle and discover the Etang de la Gruère, a 12’000-year-old peat bog. In the later afternoon you will reach La Chaux-de-Fonds. The town with its chessboard-like layout is not only the capital of Swiss watches, but also the birthplace of Louis Chevrolet and Le Corbusier. (E-bike time without rests: 4-5 h, distance: 55 km, ascent/descent: 1270/720 meters).
Day 3 Get to know the charm of the town, visit the Chevrolet monument and learn more about the history of Swiss watches on a tour of the International Watch Museum before you pedal through the wide and impressive landscape of the Vallée des Ponts. You discover an exciting natural phenomenon and mystery at the same time on the way, when the meandering river "le Grand Bied" suddenly disappears. The solution will follow! A racy ride downhill leads to the Val-de-Travers, where you will learn more about the history and secrets of the "Green Fairy" during an aperitif. (E-bike time without rests: approx. 4 h, distance: 55 km, ascent/descent: 800/1310 meters).
Day 4 Across the open Jura pastures, a small road leads up to one of the most impressive natural phenomena in Switzerland, the Creux du Van. The enormous rock basin was formed during the last cold period. Enjoy the view and with a bit of luck you will discover chamois or ibex in the steep rocky flanks. Racy you ride back into the Val-de-Travers, where the bubbling spring of Noiraigue solves the mystery of the previous day. Then follows the impressive ride through the Areuse Gorge before the valley opens up and you reach Neuchâtel through vineyards and along the shore of the lake. (E-bike time without rests: 4 h, distance: 53 km, ascent/descent: 960/1230 meters).
