For Women: Giro del Ticino

Vineyards, chestnut forests, mountains and lakes - a tour for female connoisseurs | 4 days

save bookmark

A pleasure trekking through the Ticino, the sunshine region of Switzerland. From the southernmost tip of Switzerland, the Mendrisiotto, the tour leads to Malcantone and over the mountains to Gambarogno on the Lago Maggiore. Accompanied by beautiful nature, culture and traditions, you first visit the Sottoceneri, the southern part of Ticino. Then you enter the Sopraceneri, the more mountainous area above Monte Ceneri. The different climates and geological backgrounds give the regions their very special characteristics. They shape the colour of the local products, above all the wine, which develops its very special nuances in the different terroirs.

This offer is exclusively for women, led by a female hiking guide. The trekking is part of the 100% Women campaign of Switzerland Tourism.

  • Taste the Merlot of the Sotto and Sopraceneri directly in the vineyard and cantina.
  • The hike from Monte Lema to Alpe di Neggia is one of the most spectacular routes in Ticino with a fantastic panoramic view.
  • Experience a varied e-bike ride along the shores of Lake Lugano with a stop at the Gelateria di Titi and enjoy a gelato “fato in casa”

Tag 1 After the welcome, there is a short gondola ride to the terrace of Serpiano high above Lago di Lugano. The hike leads through chestnut forests directly from the hotel towards Monte San Giorgio. Welcome to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important fossil deposits of the Middle Triassic period, a geological era between 247 and 237 million years ago. The destination of the hike is Meride, steeped in history, in the middle of the vineyards of the Mendrisiotto. (Walking time: 4 h, distance: 11 km, ascent/descent: 660/660 meters).

Day 2 A short gondola and boat ride takes you to Morcote on the other side of the lake.
